I got a message that time was up for me and I wasn't in the Blog yet. Is that true? How did that happen? If this posts I will know that I just got a glitchy message. Can I make it through today?

Hey-
I was wondering what everyone was going to bring to grandma's party. She told me on Saturday that Brian is bringing the meat from that expen$ive store on 5th south. I was thinking of doing rice krispy treat wreaths. I would also like to bring something that is not a dessert. I was wondering what other people are bringing.

O Christmas Tree

Seems like this little munchkin is enjoying the bows on the presents a little too much! She is so funny. She screams and laughs and runs away from me whenever I catch her near the tree. We went small this year and used my mom's fake 4 1/2 footer... I chose a bad time of year to quit, didn't I? It is a really cute tree, just the right size for a 14 month old to get the ornaments. :)

Where is everyone else. I never see anything from Hayden, Lacey etc. I haven't seen anything from Debi or Brian either. ....I am glad that Stephanie,Marinda and I haven't been zapped into some unkown anti blogging dimension....

Sunday, December 9, 2007

Hey Everybody! It was so good to see you all this weekend. I know it can be crazy and hectic with scheduling and kids, but I am glad we all made it. It was fun! Marinda, Jamey gave Ethan a beautiful blessing; it made me cry! You have a very special baby and husband.
Marian, thanks so much for taking all those fun family pictures - they turned out so cute! It is good to remember these family occasions. Mom, your potatoes were divine! I have to say that I LOVED the pumpkin cheesecake that Debi brought and the raspberry cheesecake the Townsends brought. It was divine! Morgan, I really need your punch recipe. Lacey, you looked gorgeous - I am serious about having you help me make one... I wish Monday wasn't coming and that we didn't have to all go back to work and all that other busy stuff. :(
Does anybody have Grandma Hulse's email address? How about Uncle Chuck, Uncle Steve, Christian, Mysti, etc? I would like to make sure everybody is invited. Thanks!

Here is what everybody is bringing so far.

Steph: Funeral Potatoes, Peas, Napkins?
Morgan: Beverage
Shayna & Sonia: Mini Cheesecakes
Grandma: Rolls
Me: Ham, Funeral Potatoes, Plates and Cups, Ice, Metal Forks and Knives, Napkins

I have decided to do real silverware because it isn't that big of a deal to wash. Also, I was wondering how we keep the food warm during the blessing.

Hi All-
His blessing will be on December 9th @ 1:00 p.m. The address is 950 North Main in Centerville. I am planning on a ham dinner. I am supplying the ham. Morgan is supplying drinks. Jamey's family is bringing the dessert. Basically that is all I have assigned. I will need people to bring:

Potatoes (mashed or funeral... I will probably need more than one person to do potatoes)
Peas (the frozen kind are the ones I like, but you can bring canned if you'd like to)
Rolls

If anyone can think of anything else I might need, let me know. This is my first time after all.
Just post a comment on what you would like to bring. Jamey and I really appreciate your support and kindness. Oh yeah and Ethan does too!

Help me remember to send my taxes on Wednesday. Then I will know who is checking this as often as me. This has beena super hard week to get through. I dont' think I am getting a break anywhere in it. The stress rehearsal is this Saturday @ 6:30 at my church. You all are invited. I am trying to bring good food......something has to be worth coming for!!!
I love you!

Hair Spray

Thanks for the wonderful movie night. I loved being with my girls. I feel so peaceful when my children are around me. Nothing can go wrong. It is going to fun being together for Ethan's blessing. Maybe we could use this blog to help Marinda with her food for the big day. How much of your Christmas stuff is out? Our tree should be up in one week.

Duck Day

Marinda, Ethan, Rich, Alaina, and I went to Layton Park yesterday to feed the birds. We got some great pictures and we had a lot of fun. Alaina was swarmed! Some of those birds were bigger than her. Ask Marinda about the stolen buns next time you see her....

?

Debi,

Just wondering if you are going to post some pictures from your recent trip to Germany... I want to see them!

Steph, et al,

Your note about the online tragedy is upsetting....but...this is why we must develop a close relationship with our kids...early on! This way, we won't feel awkward telling them about online predators...and online dangers. We simply must snoop in our kids lives...it is necessary. Check the e-mail logs DAILY....see who and what has been sent to your kids....I know many would say this betrays the trust with your kids...but I feel it secures it. Had the parents known the "Josh" person had dumped Megan...they could have reassured her about "other fish" in the sea, and indicated that no pictures were exchanged.....and that most likely he was an ugly creep...or more to the point that he could have been a cop, or an online predator. It's horrible that it went this far......Thank goodness for divine justice it helps me sleep at night.

Deb

I watched a news segment on the Today show this morning that really really bothered me. It was about this 13 year old girl named Megan. She got a myspace account to chat with her friends. Her parents really monitored her online activity - she didn't have a password to the Internet and her mom or dad had to log her in. They were always in the room when she was online. Anyway, she met this 16 year old boy online named Josh Evans. They struck up a friendship and he thought she was cute. Like any 13 year old girl, she was really excited about this friendship. She really liked him, talked about him all the time. He told her he had just moved to her area and that he was being homeschooled, also that his family didn't have a phone number yet. About a month later, he suddenly breaks off the friendship, telling her that he heard she is a cruel person and that she didn't deserve to live. At the same time, she starts getting these mean messages from her "friends" and she feels really lonely. She ends up hanging herself in her bedroom. The story is sad enough, right? It turns out that the boy "Josh" isn't even a real person! Her ADULT neighbors down the street made up the profile to gain Megan's trust and find out if she was talking about their daughter online. After a year of investigating, the FBI and the police can't charge them with anything. It is so sad and so horrible. On the program I watched, Megan's parents said the neighbors sent them a letter in the mail stating they didn't feel any responsibility for her death and that they don't feel any guilt about what they did. The stress of this situation has been too much for Megan's parents and they are now divorcing. Come on! What kind of a world are we living in where an adult can misrepresent themselves and manipulate a child's feelings and not have to pay for any of the consequences? A little girl is dead and a family is being destroyed. It seems wrong. I am totally bugged about it. I am so... I don't know. I just can't believe it. I makes me feel scared about the world my little girl will be living in. As a parent, how do you deal with this stuff? How do you protect your baby, but help her be strong enough to withstand all the crap that is out there? I just want to know what all of you guys out there think about this. I just can't believe it.
Steph

Besides these two.....
Just wanted to share some of the cutest little monsters I know! They are all so precious. I can't wait for more holidays with them. Thanks for doing this Stephanie!

Life

On the first day, God created the dog and said:

'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or
walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'

The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years
and I'll give you back the other ten?'

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:

'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you
a twenty-year life span.'

The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long
time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?'

And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said:

'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under
the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family For
this, I will give you a life span of sixty Years.'

The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty
years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created man and said:

'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you
twenty years.'

But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty,
the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the
dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'

'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy
ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our
family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the
grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and
bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained.

That is all........

P.S.

Welcome to the 21st century!!!

When you sign in and are viewing the blog, you go to the upper right hand corner where it says "new post." Clicking that will let you post something to the main page, where everybody can see it. This is where you can post pictures and video; you can also choose font and colors. There is a little picture and video icon in the posting window. This is where you want to type all your stuff. If you type something as a comment, it will not be shown on the main page. It just means you are commenting on the post. Not everybody will see the comment. Does that make sense?

Here is a sample picture for you all.....

This could be really fun. You have started something that has been needed for years. Does Debi know? I guess I better go- Hayden claims to need new pants!

Hi and Welcome!

I just thought it would be cool to have our own family blog, a place where we can post stuff about what is going on with our families and what ideas we have for third Sunday parties (or third party Sundays as I call them). Blogs are kind of fun - like a family news letter. I need help getting this out to everybody, so forward this link to all the Hulses in our family!
Thanks!
Steph
