Ye Lubbers and mates......Grandma Hulse's basement was flooded on saturday morning, so we are going to have to cancel the Pirate Party :( It was nice of Uncle Jay to try to create an atmosphere of the bilge hull of a ship, but that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Translation: Jay had come for a visit, and the downstairs toilet has a bit of a shut off issue anyway, and the water ran for several hours. WE WILL RE-SCHEDULE!!!!!

Our spotlight this week is on Mysti. I sent her an email asking her a bunch of questions about herself and she willingly agreed to be our spotlight this week. Here is a little bit about her; I'm posting some of her email. :)

"I have always loved our family Christmas parties, One party that I remember the most was when Santa came and his Garments were hanging out. We all made fun, Grandpa got mad and we never saw Santa again... Sad, poor Santa. As a child for one reason or another I was afraid of Grandpa and as I got older and realized grandpa was just being playful that went away. Grandpa used to come to Grand parents day at school with me all the time and when I was having a hard time with my male figure in my home Grandpa was always there to be that strong priesthood holder that I needed. I love still to go out to lunch with them and one thing that I dislike about living in Salt Lake is that I don't get to see them as much.
My goals in life are really simple. I want to have a successful family and well rounded children. I have a feeling my children will all be smart asses, mostly because I am, but I want to be a good mom that helps them meet their goals. I also what to go to the places I see in magazines, and eat the food on the food network. I want to be able to travel at my own leisure, and be able to talk about cultural things from experience.
When I'm not at work I'm at home. I love movies and pop culture. I am a huge facebook addict. I also love to read. I just re-read the Great Gatsby, and I'm always looking for new books. I love to own books, I got to used book stores and barnes and noble constantly. I use books for reference in my life, and Scott makes fun of me for living in a fictional world. People in books and things I read about come to life for me. I live in the books with the characters and I am there with all my heart and mind. It's silly I know, but those people are my friends, family and loved ones. I grow attached and get nervous, happy, sad and hurt. I live in that world with them.
My hobbies, well I don't have many. I like to read like I mentioned above. I like to play with my hair and clothes. Fashion is something that I am passionate about, I love fashion magazines and clothing shapes and textures. it's more than a vanity thing, it's what we live our lives in. Our clothes reflect how we think and feel about ourselves. I also really like to write, which is why this is so long, feel free to edit whatever you may need, I like to write better than I like to speak. I'm still working on the great American novel, and I think one day it might happen.
I have so many favorite things about Scott, everyday I love him more. When I was 16 I made this ridiculous list of things I wanted in a boyfriend, and everyday Scott meets one of those qualities. I love that Scott can cook. My mom used to tease me constantly because I can't cook, and I used to tell her that my husband would be the cook in our family, and sure enough Scott is. I also love that he plays guitar, and piano. He often has to play in church and primary. Scott is the greatest person I have ever met, and I feel to blessed every day that he wants to be with me too. I knew I was going to marry him the minute I met him. He was involved with someone when we first met, and in the two years that I've known him we've never been apart for more that a few hours. I know that whatever challenge I have to face, I get to face it with the only person who makes it worth the fight. He is so patient, and level headed when I'm not. He's very idealistic, which balances out my logic. He truly is the person I was meant to be with. I would do anything for him.
I am terrified of water. I'm sure that I'm going to be that one person you hear about that drowns in 3 inches of water. Water ruins your hair and make up and can ruin clothing. Water is bigger than everyone on the planet and there is never enough of it. It's cold and can be dirty. I shower once a day and that's about all the water I can handle, No baths, that's too much water.
I served in the New York Utica mission from November 2004 until May 2006. I loved being a missionary. New York is my home and not a day goes by that I don't want to go back, and I would leave everything I have to go again. I've never felt as comfortable about myself as I have than I did as a missionary. I could live with my family in any of the areas I served and feel completely comfortable. I love New York, and I have tried to go back there every year. I have never been happier in my life than when I was a missionary. The Lord has a way of taking away all the hardships that you endure as a missionary. Some point while I was serving I heard someone speak about missions, saying that every good thing that has happened to me was because I chose to serve a mission. And for me this it completely true. Had I not served I would have never met Laura, she would have never helped me get the job at the garden I would have never lived with her in Salt lake, never met Scott, and never gotten married. Well I can't say for sure I wouldn't have done those things, but it seems I really wouldn't have, I'm grateful everyday for the opportunity I had to serve the Lord faithfully for 18 months and for all the many blessings that have followed. As much as I love my life now, I know that serving a mission is what has made me love it so much.
Finally, I think my life is a musical, not only do I sing in the Shower I also sing in the car, on the bus, at work, at the mall, while making cookies, while taking walks, getting dressed, saying my prayer and brushing my teeth, I also settle all my arguments by having a dance off. This has led to things that some people might think would be embarrassing, but I don't, I honestly can't think of anything embarrassing. I will call out other peoples embarrassing moments, and say things like "That's embarrassing" to people I've never seen before. I don't fear the embarrassment... I embrace it.

Pioneer Days

This is a request to get some feedback on a get together for the 24th. Should we have a breakfast? Or would it be more fun for a bbq in the evening? Which day would be best? Friday? Saturday? Sunday? We could have some backyard games. Grandpa and I received a royal treat when we visited Megan and Lauren and they played duets and solos on their violins. I hope the whole family gets to hear them! We need all who play any musical instrument to come share their talents. Please let us hear from you all!!! Love, Grandma Hulse
